Delete your account and data
You can delete your OwlPocket account and everything stored with it at any time. There are two ways, and you do not need an account to use the second one.
In the app
Settings → Delete all my data. You will be asked for your password, because an irreversible action should not be one tap away on an unlocked phone.
- If you never created an account, this erases the database on your device. Nothing was ever sent to us, so there is nothing for us to delete.
- If you have an account, this deletes the account and everything held on our servers.
By email
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, write to support@owlpocket.com from your account email address with the subject “Delete my account”. We may need to confirm it is you before we act. We complete the deletion within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your account and email address
- Your name and profile photo, if you set them
- All synced budgeting data — expenses, categories, budgets, caps and notes
- Your preferences, including the emailed report setting
- Your notification token, so we can no longer reach your device
What is kept, and for how long
- Backups — data is removed from live systems promptly and purged from encrypted backups within 30 days.
- Your purchase records with Google — your subscription and payment history stay with Google Play, which is the merchant of record. We hold no copy after deletion; ours is removed with the account. Google’s retention is governed by their policies, not ours.
- Aggregate statistics — counts that cannot identify you may be kept indefinitely.
Cancel your subscription separately. Deleting your data does not cancel billing,
because the subscription lives with Google Play rather than with us. Cancel it at
Google Play → Subscriptions
before or after deleting — the order does not matter.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you would rather keep the account and only stop the emails, turn off Settings → Email me my report instead.
