Support
We read every message and usually reply within two business days. Telling us your device and what you were doing when it happened makes a real difference to how fast we can help.
Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start tracking — expenses, categories and budgets all work without one, and that data stays on your device. An account is only needed to sync across devices, or to buy Premium (a subscription needs somewhere durable to record who owns it).
Where is my data kept?
On your phone, until you create an account and turn on sync. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is and isn't sent.
Premium
What does Premium include?
- Budgets for every category — a spending cap per category
- No ads, anywhere
- Unlimited PDF export, without watching an ad first
I paid but Premium didn't unlock
Open Settings → Remove ads and tap Restore purchase. That re-checks your receipt with the store. If it still doesn't unlock, email us the address on your account and we'll look it up.
"This purchase belongs to a different OwlPocket account"
A subscription is tied to the account that bought it. If you've since signed in with a different email, sign back in with the original one and it will restore. Contact us if you're not sure which account that is — we can tell you without needing your password.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are billed by the store, not by us, so cancelling happens there:
- Android — Google Play → Subscriptions
- iPhone — Settings → your name → Subscriptions
You keep Premium until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting your account does not cancel billing — do both if you want both.
Was I charged after the free trial?
A trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Whether you're eligible for a trial at all is decided by Google or Apple, not by us — if you've used one before on the same store account, the app will show the plain price instead.
Your data
Export
Settings → Export my data. Free accounts can unlock a PDF report by watching a short ad; Premium exports without one.
Delete
Settings → Delete all my data, or see the deletion page if you've already uninstalled. Deletion is permanent.
Notifications and email
Stop the emailed report
Settings → Email me my report, off. It's off by default; if you're receiving one, it was turned on. Report frequency is set separately under Report cadence.
The app is too quiet / too noisy
By design it stays silent while you're under budget and speaks up when you're not. Alerts are controlled by Low-balance alert and your budget settings.
Ads
Turn ads off
Premium removes every ad. You can also turn off personalized ads on their own in Settings → Privacy & ads — you'll still see ads, just less relevant ones.
Change your ad privacy choices
In the EU and UK, Settings → Ad privacy choices reopens the consent form so you can change your answer at any time.
Something's broken
Email support@owlpocket.com with your device model, the app version (shown at the bottom of Settings), and what happened. If the app crashed and you have crash reports enabled, we may already have the details — but your description is what tells us which crash mattered.
